Pastors

Pastors bear responsibility to teach the Word and exercise oversight. They lead the congregation as shepherds, by feeding, caring for, and guarding it. We see in Scripture that the consistent pattern is a plurality of leadership. While some men work primarily for the church, others support their families primarily through employment outside the church.

Pastoral Resident

At Cedar Pointe we're convinced that part of our responsibility to make disciples of all the nations, means raising up another generation of faithful pastors—godly shepherds who will themselves disciple generations to come. One way we aim at that goal is to invest our church's resources in younger men who show evidence of pastoral character and gifting, but still need training and experience. We do this in several ways, including preaching training and personal discipleship. And then, we recently launched a pastoral residency that joins several churches in partnership to equip prospective pastors.

  • Kyle McClintock

Kyle McClintock is husband to Carmen and father to Logan. He has been a member at Cedar Pointe for several years. Kyle served for several years in the Army, earning a Purple Heart in Afghanistan. His next job immersed him in intellectual property, and he put that experience into practice as an inventor and entrepreneur.

Along the way, Kyle cultivated a hunger to know God's Word, make disciples, and strengthen the church. The Army's GI Bill opened the door for him to pursue seminary education, and he completed a Master's degree in Theological Studies in 2023.

Beginning in 2024, Cedar Pointe offered Kyle a role as a Pastoral Resident, in partnership with several Austin-area churches and the The Pillar Church Planting Network. Over the next year or two, Kyle will spend a few months at these other churches, shadowing their pastors and staff. He'll learn how they apply biblical principles in different church sizes, contexts, and cultures, while still attending Cedar Pointe with his family and providing occasional pulpit supply.
